Veteran highlife/Igbo folklore legend, Chief Mike Ejeagha, has been laid to rest on Saturday at his country home, in Umuagba Community, Imezi-Owa, Ezeagu LGA, Enugu State.

He died on Friday night at the age of 95 in Enugu.

His burial was conducted by members of his family just about 24 hours after his death without an elaborate funeral ceremony, according to his wishes.

Popularly known as‘Gentleman Mike Ejeagha’, while his album, ‘Omeka Agu’ which has as refrain ‘Gwogwo Ngwo’ captured global attention through the instrumentality of a social media influencer , Brain Jotter, Ejeagha, even in death had his dreams in another classical album, ‘Jaamu Mma Na Ndu (honour me while I’m alive)’ was made to live up to the philosophical statements in that album, as he was honored globally, particularly in Enugu State and his Imezi-Owa town, while alive.

This prompted to why he was simply laid to rest without any noise or lavish ceremonies, according to his wishes.

Since his passage, condolence messages have been pouring in from across the globe, as people pay their tributes to the late ‘Gentleman’.

Among the dignitaries in Nigeria that immediately sent in their condolences early Saturday upon receiving the news of his passage were President Bola Tinubu; Vice-President Kashim Shettima, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar; Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah; former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, the Ohana Eze Ndịgbo, among others.
