Police storm Iwollo shrine, recover firearms, ammunition

The Enugu State Police Command has recovered two firearms and ammunition from a 24-year-old self-acclaimed native doctor, Mr  Ejike Emmanuel Chinonso, who claimed to be a member of the Black Axe confraternity.

The criminal recovery was made on May 15, 2025, at the suspect’s shrine in Ugwuochie-Iwollo, Ezeagu Local Government Area.

*Exhibits Recovered

The police in a statement said they recovered the following exhibits:

One locally made pistol, one revolver pistolO, one expended .38 special calibre ammunition, one live .38 special calibre ammunition, and one live cartridge.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, in the statement, commended the operatives for their efforts and urged them to sustain the momentum to make Enugu State uninhabitable for criminals.

He also called on the public to remain supportive of the Command’s efforts.

Recall there have been spayed of criminality around the Iwollo axis of the LGA, including armed robberies, kidnappings for random, murder and the burning down of the police station at Aguobu-Iwollo some years ago, as well as activities of unknown gunmen.
