The governors elected on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned that it will not allow marauders to form coalition and factionalize the party.
The governors said that the 98th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting which will hold on Thursday will look at the vacancy created by the sack of it’s National Chairman, Sen. Iyorchua Ayu and take a position in line with the constitution of the party.
The PDP governors forum made the disclosure to journalists on Wednesday in Abuja at the end of it’s meeting.
Reading the communique, Chairman of the forum and governor of Bauchi State, Sen. Bala Mohammed said that the party in conjunction with all the stakeholders will resolve all the contending issues and reposition the party for quality opposition and service delivery.
He said that issues on the replacement of the National Chairman of the party was not an agenda in the meeting of the forum but will be done in consultation with other stakeholders following due process and party constitution.
He said, “We are talking about resolving all the issues and going forward, so that at the end of the day, the timeliness allowed in the constitution for Congresses and what have you, would have been done. But certainly the public are free to permutate, to discuss and of course NEC will decide on some of these issues.
“NEC will take decisions on such issues not the Governors, I know the Governors normally takes leadership position, but we have an acting person in leadership capacity leading the party and NEC will decide weather it is time to fill the vacancy looking at the legal implications of doing that, knowing that there are so many lingering litigations in court and of course we don’t want to disparage ourselves, because we know that they are some marauders hiding somewhere trying to factionalize our party and take one faction to go and do coalition, we are not going to allow that as governors.
“We are very responsible and we are very credible and we will make sure we resolve all the issues and unify the party for maximum efficiency and success in the next election”.
The governors went further that the governor of Rivers State will work assiduously to unite all interests in the state.
Present at the meeting were Gov. Bala Mohammed, Bauchi State – Chairman; Gov. Siminalayi Fubara, Rivers State – Vice Chairman; Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri – Adamawa State and Gov. Umo Eno – Akwa Ibom State.
Others are Gov. Douye Diri – Bayelsa State; Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori – Delta State; Dep. Gov. Omobayo M. Godwins – Edo State and Dep. Gov. Ifeanyi Ossai – Enugu State.
