The former President and Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc (Transcorp), Val Ozigbo, has declared his intention to throw his hat into the ring for 2025 Anambra guber race.
Ozigbo of the Labour Party (LP) made the declaration during an interactive session with journalists in Awka on Saturday.
He criticized Gov. Charles Soludo, for what he perceives as “underperformance in his first two years in office”.
Mr Ozigbo said that he would have handled governance differently and more effectively, had he won the November 2021 gubernatorial election.
He faulted the incumbent’s strategy and autocratic leadership style, saying, “Gov Soludo has not performed optimally and has failed to connect with the people he governs. After two years, it is imperative for me, as a citizen, to hold him accountable.
“I believe I can do better. We must not allow our aspirations to fade, especially after the events of the 2023 election. We must collectively strive to change the narrative.”
He pledged to adhere to the zoning arrangement and serve only one term in office in the spirit of existing zoning arrangement in the state.
“I commit to honouring the zoning principle and am open to entering into an agreement to serve just one term. Additionally, I echo the sentiments of Mr. Peter Obi, a highly respected politician in Africa, who advocates a single term for the southern candidate who emerges,” he stated.
