*Wait till 2027 if you’re interested in political office, he taunts them

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Thursday took a swipe at organised labour for the series of strikes they had embarked on since he assumed office on May 29, 2023, saying such development is unacceptable to his administration.

The President spoke at the inauguration of the Lagos Red Line Rail Project in Ikeja, where he further frayed at what he described as “the disruptive tendencies of labour”, and declared that “they were not the only voice in Nigeria”.

He therefore advised the labour leaders to wait till 2027, if they were keen on holding elective public offices.

Speaking at the inauguration, President Tinubu asked for permission to throw a jab before sending a message to the Organised Labour, comprising mainly of the NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

He said, “The Labour Union should understand that no matter how long we cling to our freedom and rights, the four strikes within nine months of an administration is unacceptable.

“If you want to participate in the electoral process, wait until 2027. If not maintain peace. You are not the only voice of Nigerians.”

At the commissioning, President Tinubu vowed to tackle corruption, insisting that it is a menace that must be exterminated, though he did not say how he will cage the obvious gargantuan monster plaguing his party’s leadership of the country since 2015.

According to him: “Corruption is fighting back. The fight against corruption is on, we will not look back, we will fight it to ruins.

“I speak to Nigerians through this podium that change is possible and change we must achieve; progress we must attain.

“We cannot afford to relax the burgeoning population, we must plan and prepare for it, and we must be committed to greatness.”
