Former Federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has described the verdict of the Appeal Court that nullified the election of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, as a broad daylight heist.
In his official Twitter handle, now known as X, Shehu wrote: “The Court of Appeal Judgement against the electoral victory of the Plateau State Governor is unfortunate, unacceptable and condemnable. A broad daylight heist of the will of the people. The bench is becoming the coffin of democracy,” he said.
Shehu advised political parties to be aware that courts are now utilizing party membership, Congress, and primaries to overturn the outcomes of general elections in the country.
He characterized it as a trap and urged politicians to ensure they regularly pay their monthly party membership dues, anticipating that judges may request access to party books and accounts. In his words, “Now that the Courts are using party membership, party Congresses and party primaries to upturn the results of general elections, political parties must take serious note of these traps. Pay your party monthly membership dues before the judges call for the party books and accountant.”
