The European Union is set to invest 40 million Euros in the educational system in Nigeria.
Speaking to journalists at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa yesterday during the signing of financial agreements of Nigeria-EU Development Projects in Abuja.
The head of the European Delegation to Nigeria and Economic Community of West African States, Samuela Isopi stated that European Union is set to launch 40milion Euros primary education programme that will target North-West of Nigeria with more emphasis on the education of the girl-child.
Isopi said, ” In the first phrase, we will target states and girls education in particular. This will be the second part of our visit with the Ministry of Education, we will launch 40million Euros primary education programme that will target North West of Nigeria because the number of out of school children has so far increased.
“Today we have Access Bank and others we are also supporting Sustainable and Innovative social protection programmes. EU support to Social Protection and Safety-Nets aims at strengthening the social protection system and implementing solutions to alleviate poverty durably in selected states.
“The EU Support for the Disengagement, Review, Reintegration, and Reconciliation of Persons Formerly Associated with Non-State Armed Groups (NSAGs) in North-East Nigeria”.
