*Trounce lone challenger, Yari to clinch the post after
Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, senator-elect from Akwa Ibom state has emerged as the Senate President of the 10th National Assembly.
Akpabio was challenged by a former governor of Zamfara state, Sen. Abdulaziz Yari, after he was nominated for the position amid protests from some Senators.
Voting began at about 08:45am on a state-by-state basis, alphabetically.
Akpabio had been the annointed candidate of the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
