2023 Census: NPC/NOA organises 1-day interactive with bloggers and docial media influencers

Ahead of the 2023 Population and Housing Census, the National Population Commission (NPC) has trained bloggers and social media influencers on effective census reporting.

The training program, which took place in Abuja, was aimed at equipping bloggers and social media influencers with the necessary knowledge and skills to report accurately on the census, as well as to disseminate information about the exercise to a wider audience across the country.

Speaking at the training program, the NPC Chairman, Nasir Isa Kwarra, emphasized the importance of accurate reporting in ensuring the success of the census exercise. 

He explained that social media influencers and bloggers have significant roles to play in ensuring that the public are well-informed about the exercise and its importance.

Kwarra also spoke onthe importance of accurate data collection in ensuring that government policies and programs are effectively planned and implemented. 

He emphasized that the census exercise remsins critical in providing accurate data to be used for planning at both the national and local levels.

The training program covered various aspects of census reporting, including the importance of accuracy, the role of social media influencers in disseminating census information, and the use of social media platforms in reporting on the exercise.

The participants commended the NPC for organizing the training program, describing it as a step in the right direction towards ensuring accurate census reporting. 

They pledged to deploy their platforms to disseminate information on the census to their followers and the wider public.

The Commission in collaboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) organized the interactive.

The workshop had in attendance bloggers and social media influencers from all the States of Nigeria and the FCT.

Heighten awareness among Nigerian bloggers/social media influencers on the importance of the 2023 Nigeria Census 

Highlights of the training aims to: “Sensitize Nigerian bloggers/social media activists on their mass mobilization role towards the success of the 2023 Nigeria Census.

“Raise a formidable network of bloggers, online activists and influencers to champion youth and citizen mobilization for participation in the 2023 Nigeria Census.

“Achieve a consistent and regular positive portrayal of the 2023 Nigeria Census in most online communication platforms”.

The 2023 population and housing census, which is the seventh in Nigeria’s history, is expected to provide accurate data on the country’s population and housing
