Former Governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, has escaped death by the whiskers.

Four of his police orderlies were, however, unlucky.

The policemen died in the attack that happened on Monday evening.

Ohakim’s convoy was bombed at Oriagu in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.

The gunmen threw explosives on the back-up vehicle when they could not get the former governor.

The former governor, along with two of his children, was returning from a visit on Monday evening when the gunmen struck.

“The former governor was the target of the attack. However, his driver outsmarted the gunmen who were trying to block his way.

“Disappointed that their main target had escaped, they blocked his backup vehicle and burnt it. The four policemen with him were feared killed,” a source said.
