Troops of Sector 1 under the Joint Task Force (North-East) Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have neutralised eight suspected members of the JAS/ISWAP terrorist group during a coordinated offensive operation in Borno State.

A military source disclosed that the operation, conducted as part of Operation Desert Sanity V, took place at about 9:15 a.m. on 25th February, 2026 in the Shehuri area of Kondunga Local Government Area.

During the operation, troops intercepted and engaged the terrorists in a fierce encounter.

According to the source, troops immediately carried out exploitation of the area following the engagement, resulting in the neutralisation of eight terrorists.

Several items were also recovered, including one AKSM automatic rifle and one pump-action rifle, along with magazines and cartridges.

The source added that the morale and fighting efficiency of the troops remain high and satisfactory as they continue to sustain pressure on terrorist elements across the theatre of operations.

The successful operation underscores the sustained commitment of Operation Hadin Kai to degrading the operational capabilities of Boko Haram and ISWAP, disrupting their supply chains, and restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East region.
