The longstanding conflict that has bedeviled the Assemblies of God Church Nigeria, one of the foremost pentecostal Ministries, is about to be resolved by a die-hard Kingdom Investor and philanthropist, Barrister Obioma Success Akagburuonye, in the interest of the Kingdom and humanity.

He disclosed this on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the Leadership and Politics for the Christendom Conference, organised by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Imo State Chapter, in conjunction with American Evangelist, Bishop Senator Anthony Muse of Los Angeles. It is one of the activities marking the 60th birthday and biography launch of Success Akagburuonye.

The over a decade feud, which has led to the factionalisation of the citadel of worship, orchestrated by leadership tussle, allegations of funds mismanagement and significant corruption, went out of the Church’s General Council (highest policy making body) control to the courts, up to the Supreme court, even as other high profile men of God from different denominations intervened but to no avail.

At the centre of the matter was the ousted General Supretendent, Rev. Prof. Paul Emeka who was accused of multiple corruption, and all efforts to bring him to book by the members of the General Council were resisted. The Council then elected Rev. Dr Chidi Okoroafor as General Supretendent to replace him. He pulled out with some members of the church, taking possession of some of the Church’s branches. Since then the church has remained factionalised, even as it was claimed that the Supreme court judgement was in favour of then Chidi Okoroafor led faction.

Worried by the negative impact the imbroglio has caused the church and the advancement of the Kingdom, Barr. Akagburuonye, a member, who has invested billions of Naira in the church, decided to take up the gauntlet to reconcile the feuding parties. Conferred by the church with Ambassador of the Kingdom, Akagburuonye has built, renovated, provided financial support to both the members, clergy, and for evangelism. He single-handedly built a church auditorium, the Noah’s Ark, at Ogbor Uvuru, Mbaise, his hometown, worth over a billion naira.

“I have visited the General Supretendent, Rev. Abel Amadi (PhD) and told him that I want to go and see Rev. Prof. Paul Emeka and he didn’t say no to it. I went and visited Rev. Prof. Paul Emeka and told him that I want this matter resolved and he said he is open to discussion. We will soon gather like this for a unification service of the Assemblies of God Church,” he announced excitedly.

Meanwhile, Rev. Prof. Paul Emeka was present at the event as a special guest. He thanked Akagburuonye immensely for his love and generosity to the kingdom. Quoting Acts of the Apostles chapter 13 verse 36, he noted that Success Akagburuonye has “served his generation relevantly” by attending to things that are expedient, “that is why i appreciate you – for building churches, you are going higher and higher,” he declared.
