BY SAM OTUONYE

Ahead of the Imo State 2027 governorship polls, renowned business mogul, philanthropist, and politician, Barrister Obioma Success Akagburuonye, on Thursday, February 19 2026, commissioned his ‘Hope Rising for Imo Foundation Campaign Office’, in Owerri, in readiness for the political ‘battle’.

The multi-million Naira ultra-modern office complexes were commissioned by Bishop Innocent Erimujor of the Healing Nation’s Ministries International and an American Senator and ordained man of God, Bishop Senator Anthony Muse. While Bishop Ermujor cut the tape of the two storey edifice housing administrative offices, Bishop Muse commissioned the ‘Akaraugo Congress Hall’, a magnificent hall that will host congresses.

The event was part of a lineup of activities marking his 60th birthday and book launch that would conclude on Sunday, February, 22, 2026, with a thanksgiving service at Assemblies of God Church, Noah’s Ark, Ogbor Uvuru, Mbaise. Earlier, a conference on leadership and politics for the Christendom was held by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Imo State Chapter, in collaboration with American Evangelist, Bishop Senator Anthony Muse and Joel Njoku, an American based Evangelist.

Speaking at the brief but colourful ceremony, an elated Akagburuonye, who attributed his achievements to the God’s Grace, noted that he is a product of prayer, as he ardently believes in the power of prayer and Kingdom investment for continued blessings and guidance.

“I will hand over the in-coming months to God because prayer always changes things for the better”. The business magnet hailed his wife for sustained support to him.

The frontline governorship contender who hailed Governor Hope Uzodimma for taking the state to the next level, posited that only selfless leaders with the fear of God would liberate Imo State from its current socio-economic headwinds.

He noted that what matters in partisan politics is personality and political ideology as against the political party one belongs to, just as he berated an attempt by a former governor to handover to his son-inlaw, establishing a dynasty that would have wrecked the state.

Akagburuonye listed the programmes slated for his 60th birthday celebration to include, a novelty match by former Super Eagles and ‘friends of Success’, conferment of Akaraugo of Igboland, by South East Traditional Rulers, stating, “I have paid my dues in Igboland and I have invested much back home”.
