The Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area following a renewed outbreak of communal violence on Sunday evening.

The directive was announced on Monday in a statement signed by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Hussaini Hammangabdo.

According to the statement, the decision became necessary to prevent further escalation of the crisis and ensure the safety of residents in the affected communities.

Governor Fintiri ordered security agencies to immediately move into the troubled areas to restore peace, maintain law and order, and prevent additional casualties.

The government stressed that the curfew takes effect immediately, warning residents to comply strictly with the restrictions.

Authorities also appealed to community members to remain calm and cooperate fully with security operatives deployed to the area.

The renewed clashes have raised concerns about recurring tensions in Lamurde, prompting calls for swift intervention to avert further unrest.

The state government assured that it is closely monitoring the situation and will take all necessary measures to safeguard lives and property.
