Concerned staff of Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) have accused the management of the Company of violating promotion extant guidelines in its current promotion exercise.
The staff members had last week petitioned the Vice-President Sen Kasshim Shettima as Chairman of the Board of the public company and other members to draw their attention again to the pressing matter of grave concern in the establishment.
The staff members followed this up on Wednesday November 26, 2025 with a press conference calling on the Board to intervene and reconsider the unilateral promotion policy change in the establishment they say, is negativity affecting staff welfare.
Despite the outcry, they claimed that the Managing-Director of NDPHC, Engr Jenniffer Adighije, in collaboration with the Human Resources department has started despatching congratulatory messages to select individuals, allegedly loyal to the management, without following due process and deviating from the organisation’s existing promotion policy.
This action, the workers maintained, has caused widespread discontent and demoralised most of the staff, who participated in the 2025 promotion examination.
According to them, they believe what the management did was a clear case of favouritism and this action undermines the integrity of the institution.
“The affected staff therefore request the intervention of the number two citizen of Nigeria on this matter to ensure that the promotion process is fair, transparent, and based on merit”.
The petition was also copied to Governor of Imo State, Governor of Katsina State,
Governor of Ekiti State, Governor of Borno State, Governor of Kwara State and Governor of Akwa,-Ibom State.
The members of staff who are mostly senior staff of NDPHC urged the Vice-President to direct the Managing-Director to adhere to the established policies and procedures, by ensuring that all staff members are treated equally and without bias.
They further appealed to the Board to demand and scrutinise the examination score sheets arising from the promotion examination from the examiners, with a view to ensuring justice and fair play.
“The Board may wish to note that the Managing Director, has promised not conduct any promotion examination in the next two years and hence will be depriving those who had participated in 2025 and scored above cut-off mark stipulated by the organisation’s promotion policy,” they stated.
The management of NDPHC is yet to react to the allegations as at going to press, but a top management staff who pleaded anonymity said they were shocked with the policy reversal, which was not advertised prior to the examination, in violation of public service rules.
