Five days after terrorists stormed a school in Kebbi State and abducted female students, another set of deadly terrorists have at the early hours of Friday, November 21, 2025, stormed St. Mary’s Papiri Private Catholic Secondary School, Papiri, in Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, abducting over 52 students and teachers.
The mass abduction took place between 2:00am and 4:00am, in an area close to Borgu axis of the state, considered to be close to a notorious enclave of terrorists operating around the Kainji Dam.
Ahmed Abdullahi Rofia, the Head of Disaster and Relief for Agwara Local Government, while confirming the horrific incident, alongside Bello Gidi, media aide to the Chairman of the local government, said the “terrorists kidnapped students and some teachers of St. Mary’s Papiri Private Catholic Secondary School”.
Gidi said: “Yes, it is true that bandits have kidnapped students and teachers at St. Mary’s Papiri Private Catholic Secondary School Papiri, Agwara LGA, Niger State.
“The information reaching us is that they have kidnapped over 100 students and teachers. It is a mixed school with boys and girls”.
It was gathered that the terrorists stormed the school while the students were preparing for morning routines and immediately launched their assault with sporadic gun shots.
While security agencies are yet to issue official statement on the unfortunate incident, a dependable security source, said that some special operatives and ground troops have been deployed and are already trailing the terrorists in an effort to rescue the victims.
It can not be ascertained if Fifth columnists, seen to be hampering efforts to curtail insecurity in the country, would not jeopardise the current effort.
But, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, is said to have deployed available ICT architecture to avert the activities of such criminals said to have infiltrated the nation’s security network, especially in the regime of the late President Muhammadu Buhari.
