The Rivers State House of Assembly on Thursday appears bent to continue the battle against Governor Siminalayi Fubara, as they asked him to immediately submit the list of commissioner-nominees for screening and confirmation.

The demand was made as lawmakers reconvened in Port Harcourt for their first plenary after a six-month suspension triggered by the declaration of emergency rule in the state.

As at 7.30pm Thursday, it is not clear whether or not Gov. Funara has resumed office, but the state Assembly which started sitter NH since Monday, had already sent an ultimatum to him in that respect, fuelling speculation that the war against the governor is yet to be over.

The sitting of the Assembly where they issued the instruction was held at the Conference Hall of the Legislative Quarters along Aba Road.

During the session, the Assembly commended President Bola Tinubu for lifting emergency rule and restoring democratic governance in Rivers State, sending the wrong sigal that they were just waiting to commence impeachment proceedings against the governor.

The members also pledged to uphold agreements reached with key stakeholders to safeguard peace and stability.

Governor Fubara, along with his deputy and lawmakers are expected to return to office following the presidential directive on Wednesday, but they are yet to do so, as at press time.
