The North-East Zone of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), including chapters from Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, Yobe, and Taraba states, has endorsed the current President, Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, for re-election ahead of its national elective congress scheduled for the 19th to 21st of this month.

The Chairmen Forum of NYCN in the North-East Zone, in a communiqué made available to journalists on Tuesday after its recent meeting in Yola, Adamawa State, stated that they have notified the relevant authorities of the Federal and State Governments and are seeking their support to ensure the successful conduct of the upcoming congress.

They explained that the endorsement of Amb. Sukubo followed extensive consultations with stakeholders across the six states of the zone and was based on his outstanding leadership qualities, including his capacity, courage, wisdom, persistence, vision, and steadfast dedication to youth development.

The youth leaders highlighted that Sukubo’s ability to foster strong relationships, unite young people, and articulate their needs has gained him broad recognition and respect among Nigerian youths.

According to the North-East Youth leaders, “Sukubo’s exceptional communication skills, sensitivity, open-door policy, and flexibility have enabled him to effectively mobilize support for initiatives that are beneficial to the youth population.”

“His leadership style has fostered a sense of unity and purpose among Nigerian youths, and his re-election would undoubtedly strengthen the remarkable progress achieved during his tenure.”

The North-East Youth Leaders stressed that Sukubo’s re-election would not only guarantee continuity but also leave a lasting legacy that will further influence the future of Nigerian youths and nation-building.

They appealed to the Ministry of Youth Development, the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiative, Delivery, and Monitoring, as well as the state governments in the North-East zone, to support Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe’s candidature for the betterment of Nigerian youths.

They also pledged to mobilize strong support across various states within the zone to secure an overwhelming victory for Sukubo at the congress.

The North-East Youth Leaders also described the proposed National Youth Conference (Confab) by the Federal Government as a visionary initiative by President Bola Tinubu, and requested one thousand participation slots for their zone.

They believe that greater representation from the North-East would enhance inclusivity, encourage diverse ideas and perspectives, and contribute to meaningful discussions and outcomes with significant implications for national development.

The Chairmen Forum of NYCN in the North-East Zone also distanced the zone from the illegal activities of some impersonators, led by Mr. Solomon Adodo, who are impersonating the President and members of the National Executive of NYCN, misleading and scamming innocent members of the public.

They urged security agencies to investigate the matter and bring the impersonators to justice.
