* APC guber candidate, Ukachukwu mourns
The sleepy village of Ezi in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State has been thrown into mourning suspected cultists attacked mourners during a funeral, killing four persons and injuring 15 others.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Anambra State Command, Tochukwu Ikenga (SP) who confirmed the incident, said that the police received a distress call in the late hours of 11th September 2025, that armed men suspected to be cultists invaded a burial ceremony at Ezi Village, Ogidi, Idemili North LGA and opened fire on the attendees, resulting in the death of four persons while fifteen others sustained serious injuries.
“Police Operatives from Ogidi Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, swiftly mobilized to the scene, restored normalcy, and immediately evacuated the victims to hospitals for medical attention. In the course of the operation, 16 (sixteen) expended cartridges were recovered as exhibits.”
Tochukwu said that the command has since launched a discreet investigation to identify, trace, and arrest the perpetrators, as preliminary findings suggest that the incident is connected to a clash between rival cult groups.
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu while reacting to the Ogidi bloodletting said, “this is one killing too many, and we speak on behalf of the people to denounce the State Government’s mounting security incompetence.
“Surely this is not our culture or way of life. On behalf of our people we can say that the land, the spirits and the people have clearly rejected Chukwuma Soludo from superintending the State anymore.
“As the conscience of the people of the State now I, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) am stepping forward to rescue Anambra State and her citizens from this seeming murderous regime.
“Killing, shedding of innocent blood remains a taboo to us. Therefore we can no longer sit by and watch Prof Soludo turn Anambra State to killing field. No. Not at all.”
