Gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori was showered with prayers by veterans at her Celebrating the Legends programme held on Thursday, at White Stone Event Centre, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos.

The event, which honoured gospel icons aged 60 and above, featured the likes of Ebenezer Obey, Bola Are, Funmi Aragbaye, Joseph Adelakun (Ayewa), Kunle Ajayi, Dunni Olanrewaju and many others.

Videos from the event showed the elders laying hands on Alaseyori, blessing her for recognising them while they are alive.

Sharing a clip from the event on Instagram the following day (Friday), she wrote:
“Grateful for every legend who showed up and to the amazing fans and families who came to celebrate them. Truly a blessed time, and we’re thankful for every moment. God bless us all.

“We are truly grateful to all the mummies and daddies who have been a blessing to us and continue to impact lives. Your presence was uplifting and glorifying, we thank God for each of you. BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE ALASEYORI FAMILIES ACROSS THE GLOBE. YOUR LOVE AND SUPPORT MEAN THE WORLD TO ME. I LOVE YOU ALL! ALASEYORI NIMI.”

She also described the scene as “the powerful moment gospel music legends showered blessings on Minister Adeyinka Alaseyori in gratitude for celebrating them.”

Colleagues praised the initiative. Gospel singer Esther Igbekele called the programme “a huge success” while saxophonist Beejay Sax urged fans to turn up at the Whitestone venue ahead of the event.

Yinka, known for songs like ‘ArojIinle’ and ‘Oniduro Mi,’ has often spoken about her desire to honour those who paved the way in gospel music.
