Following the recent Kidney Dialysis scheme approved by President Bola Tinubu, the Federal Government has released a list of hospitals where such services can be received.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare said the initiative is already being piloted in 11 federal tertiary health institutions across the country.
The statement also said that as widely claimed, patients in the Northwest region of the country are not excluded from the subsidy scheme.
According to the statement signed by the Deputy Director/Head, Information & Public Relations, Alaba Balogun, a dialysis session has been reduced from N50,000 to N12,000 as approved by President Tinubu.
“Under the scheme, the cost of a dialysis session has been reduced from N50,000 to N12,000.
“This initiative, driven by the Renewed Hope Agenda, is part of the administration’s deliberate effort to provide relief for patients with kidney-related diseases while expanding access to universal health coverage.
“The Ministry emphasises that the Northwest is not excluded. This pilot phase will be expanded to cover more Federal hospitals across the country in due course, ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind in accessing life-saving dialysis services,” the statement said.
Below is the list of federal hospitals where the kidney dialysis subsidy is effective:
- Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital
- University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital
- Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital
- University of Jos Teaching Hospital
- National Hospital, Abuja
- Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Metta
- University College Hospital, Ibadan
- University of Benin Teaching Hospital
- Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa
- Federal Teaching Hospital, Owerri
- Federal Medical Centre, Abakaliki
The federal Government also reiterated its commitment towards reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases and improving citizens’ well-being.
