The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has deployed 20,850 officers and men to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free by-election across 16 constituencies in 12 states on August 16, 2024.

Thins was contained in a press release from CSC Afolabi Babawale the Public Relations, NSCDC headquarters, Abuja on Thursday.

Prof. Audi assured the public of the Corps’ readiness to protect critical national assets and infrastructure, secure election materials, and safeguard officials in collaboration with the Nigeria Police, the lead agency in election duty operations.

Speaking at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja, the Commandant General expressed confidence in the Corps’ ability to provide adequate security during the by-elections. He urged eligible voters to turn out in large numbers to exercise their right to vote.

The NSCDC’s deployment aims to complement the efforts of other security agencies in ensuring a smooth and secure electoral process. With 20,850 personnel on ground, the Corps is well-positioned to support the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in conducting a successful by-election.
