The chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Maikàlangu said the residents cannot deliver him and the ruling All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming election without having voters card.
He advised his supporters to arm themselves with their voters card, which he said remain the only way to make him win the election slated by INEC for February, 2026.
Maikàlangu was elected for the first term in office on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2022, but dumped the party and joined the ruling party, APC in 2025.
Speaking after he received certificate of return from the APC national headquarters in Abuja, Wednesday, he boasted of victory, saying his visible projects will speak for him.
He acknowledged that the campaign has not started but he urged the residents to reelect him to consolidate achievements.
The chairman appealed to the party faithful to unite for a better AMAC, saying division wouldn’t help the party.
He said: “The certificate of return I received is an indication that I am the APC Chairmanship candidate in AMAC come 2026. APC is one family, I urge my supporters to continue supporting the party. I appeal to those who contested with me to join hands with me to move AMAC forward.
“The Minister of FCT has repeatedly said it is operation show your scorecard. It’s operation show your voter’s card. Not only scorecard, show your voter’s card. You cannot tell me that you are with me when you don’t have voter card.
“So I’m sending this message to all my lovers that they should go and get their voter’s card so that in this coming election, we shall deliver APC 100% in the FCT. I am calling on all other contestants that we should join hands and get it right this time around. APC, this time around, we are going to make it.
“I appeal to all the residents of FCT to should me support, so that where we have stopped, we will continue giving people dividends of democracy. Whatever I have done for my people, if they like it, they should vote for me. It is what you do for your people that will make them to vote for you. And I’ve done it for them.”
