The All Progressives Congress (APC), has boasted that the exit of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), poses no threat to its political dominance.
The Publicity Secretary of the party in Lagos, Mr. Seye Oladejo, made the remark on Wednesday in a statement, stressing that Atiku’s possible defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has changed nothing in respect to the 2027 general elections.
Atiku resigned from the PDP on Wednesday, describing it as heartbreaking.
According to him, he had witnessed growing frustration with the party’s post-election disarray and inability to provide effective opposition.
It will be recalled that his coalition recently adopted the party as its 2027 electoral platform.
His resignation signals readiness to solidify ties with ADC ahead of the upcoming general elections.
Reacting, Oladejo described Atiku’s exit from the PDP as “a desperate, yet unsurprising, move reflecting a fractured opposition”.
According to him, the development confirms the PDP’s internal collapse and Atiku’s continued lack of political consistency and tact.
“Atiku’s actions reflect ambition without principle, not driven by ideology, but by relentless personal pursuits.
“Whether PDP, ADC or another, Nigerians remain politically aware and will not be swayed by his jumping from pillar to the post.
“The APC stands as the only party delivering real governance, economic gains, and solid infrastructure,” Oladejo boasted.
