The Federal Government (FG) took a significant step towards improving public service delivery with the commissioning of a specialized Passport Front Office for senior public officials and designated individuals.
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, kicked off the facility on Tuesday.
The new office is designed to provide timely and seamless passport processing, addressing the challenges faced by senior government officials who previously had to endure long queues and abandon official duties.
In a press statement signed by Ozoya Imohimi, Director, Press & Public Relations, Dr. Tunji-Ojo explained that the facility was established to serve those tasked with leadership more efficiently.
The Minister said: “The Passport Front Office sets a new benchmark for excellence and will significantly improve access, reduce waiting time, and elevate the overall passport service delivery standard”.
He however commended the Nigerian Immigration Service for its professionalism and implementation expertise.
The facility is powered by state-of-the-art digital infrastructure supplied by Iris Smart Technologies.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader reform effort aimed at improving service delivery in the nation.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by prominent stakeholders, including the Minister of Water Resources, Prof. Joseph Utsev; the Controller-Generals of all services in the ministry, and senior officers from the Nigerian Immigration Service.
The Minister highlighted the reformation efforts of the Renewed Hope Administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at improving every sector of the economy.
The Passport Front Office is expected to enhance the efficiency and productivity of senior public officials, allowing them to focus on their official duties without unnecessary distractions.
