Governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday formally endorsed President Bola Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate for 2027 presidential election.

The morion for Tinubu’s adoption was moved by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma at the APC National Summit which held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The motion was seconded by Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, and a voice vote unanimously approved it.

Governor Uzodimma, who is chair of the Governors Forum, emphasized their commitment to mobilizing resources and ensuring victory for Tinubu in their respective states.

The governors expressed confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and reforms, promising to deliver their states in the upcoming elections.

Similarly, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, said on behalf of their members that the National Assembly had endorsed and adopted Tinubu for the sole candidacy of the party for the 2027 presidential election.

This endorsements follow similar moves by other APC regional leaders, including the North Central governors who recently passed a vote of confidence in Tinubu’s administration, praising his developmental strides and inclusive governance approach.

The backing of the Progressive Governors Forum and the National Assembly (APC) further consolidates Tinubu’s position towards a seamless convention that is expected to also adopt him as the APC’s flagbearer for 2027.

Also in his remarks, national chairman of APC, Umar Ganduje, announced the affirmation of all previous endorsements of Tinubu by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

He however, cautioned against complacency, stating that  “the journey is far from over. We must not become unworried. Now is the time to deepen our grassroots mobilization, embrace party discipline, and support the President’s agenda with solid loyalty.

“Let us resist internal sabotage and remain focused. Let us engage our communities, listen to the people, and build a political structure that will endure beyond election cycles. As we reflect on the journey so far, let us renew our commitment to the ideals that brought us together. Let us unite behind our leaders, especially Mr. President, support our policies and vision, and deliver the Renewed Hope that every Nigerian deserves.”
