The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has said the ongoing construction of bus and taxi terminals would help in tackling indiscriminate motor parks in the territory.

He said  the terminals at the verge of completion will play significant role in reducing insecurity in Abuja, particularly the prevent “one-chance” criminal activities.

Wike stated this while fielding questions from journalists after inspection of Mabushi and Kugbo bus terminals, and court of Appeal road, Daki-biyu on Tuesday.

The minister explained that after completing the terminals, people would not be standing on the road to board vehicles but will be going inside the approved park which will guarantee their safety and clean up the city.

On his earlier complaint about the poor finishing of Mabushi motor park, the minister commended the company for improved work.

Wike also said some projects lined up for Tinubu’s second anniversary celebration would  be  inaugurated on May 29, while others will be on a later date, depending on president Bola Tinubu scheduled of activities.

He commended the contractor for a job well done, “I commend the contractor. When we went there last time, you saw that I shouted at them.  I was not happy with the finishing but from what I have seen now, there has been a lot of improvement.

“What it means is that you don’t need to stay on  the road, you have to go to the bus terminal, we know the vehicles you have boarded. That, of course, will limit this one chance.

“So that is  the sense of building these terminals, and also to clean up the city so you don’t have buses all over the road becoming motor parks.

“We’ve inspected several projects today but the road that is going to the court of appeal at Daki-biyu is the one that we’re hoping will be  part of the inauguration of the president’s second year anniversary.

“We are happy that we are provided this kind of infrastructure. Of course, you will agree with me that the bus terminal is a basic thing for us to change our transport system and I commend the contractors for a job well done.

“We’re quite impressed. And we have assured the residents of Abuja that under the leadership of President Bola  Tinubu, we are going to give them first class infrastructure which they deserve. So we’re happy with what they’ve seen and we believe that we will try as much as we can to keep to the date to we have agreed”
