The Niger Delta militant group, Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) on Sunday resurfaced, claiming responsibility for the attacks and destruction on Ogada Brass Agip trunk line running from Omouku to Brass Agip terminal, saying it was carried out by 0200hr on Sunday.

The MEND operation, being carried out by forces of the Liberation Army of the Niger Delta and Bakassi (LAND&B) also “attacked and destroyed” the pipeline on Oron River, at the back of Maritime Academy.

The MEND statement, signed by Operations Commander of LAND&B, said the “attacks signify the launch of a campaign to drive out of Rivers State usurpers of the people’s legitimate authority.”

MEND called upon “all armed groups in Rivers State not to allow this affront pass without a fitting consequence.”
