The Anambra State Police Command has provided details regarding a shooting incident that occurred in Ukwulu, Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka local government area of the state on the evening of 12th April 2025.

A statement by the command said Police Operatives from the Special Anti-Cultism Squad Enugu-Ukwu responded quickly to the scene, effectively preventing further escalation of the situation.

During the intervention, officers rescued one victim who had sustained a gunshot injury, and they also recovered an AK47 rifle, a pistol, and six rounds of live ammunition. Two suspects were arrested at the scene.

According to the statement signed by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command, “the suspects are already undergoing police interrogations while the victim was taken to the hospital and is responding to medical treatment.”

“Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim and the armed suspect, who sought assistance from another individual, are brothers involved in a serious misunderstanding.

“The case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a more comprehensive investigation. Further details will be communicated in due course”.
