Hon Ahmed Mirwa Lawan, Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, has lost his seat to Lawan Musa, a 35-year-old Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Nguru II Constituency.

According to the Returning Officer of the Election, Dr Habib Muhammad, who announced the results, Musa received 6,648 votes to defeat Yobe’s All Progressives Congress (APC) Speaker, who received 6,466 votes.

He stated that the ADC, NNPP, and APM candidates received 3,023 and 14 votes, respectively.

Yobe Speaker has served in the House since 2003, when he was elected under the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).
