Governor’s convoy in accident while going to vote

*3 aides confirmed dead, several others injured

No fewer than three people have been confirmed dead and several others injured in an accident involving the convoy of Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State on Friday night.

The convoy had accident along Jikamshi bridge located in Musawa Local Government Area of the State where two police officers attached to the convoy identified as Kabir Adamu and Nura Sufiyanu lost their lives.

The Police Spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, also confirmed the incident to Channels Television in a telephone call on Saturday but did not disclosed the identity of the affected civilian.

He said the incident happened while the governor was on his way to Masari, his hometown in Kafur Local Government Area of the state.

Isah further revealed that two of the deceased were policemen and the other one is a civilian and their corpses have already been taken to a General Hospital mortuary.

Governor Masari was heading to his hometown for the governorship and state assembly elections taking place today Saturday.
