INEC handsover Certificate of Return to Tinubu, at 3pm Wednesday

President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be formally presented with his certificate of return today by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, by 3pm.

The Vice President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima will similarly be presented with his own certificate of return by the Prof Mahmood Yakubu -led INEC today.

The certificates of return will be presented to them at the national collation centre inside the African hall of the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

Already, security in and around the venue has been beefed up ahead of the programme.

Asiwaju BolaTinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared winner of the Saturday’s presidential election in the early hour of today (Wednesday) by INEC.

Declaring the winner of the election, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who was the Chief Returning Officer of the election, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, said Tinubu fulfilled all the requirements to be so declared.

He got over 8.7m votes which is about 35 percent of the votes cast.

Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) came second and third respectively.
