Nyesom Wike, has said that he is surprised that Atiku Abubakar could make a statement that is capable of threatening national unity of Nigeria. Nyesom Wike went on to say that at this point, the Peoples Democratic Party should apologize to Nigerians for Atiku’s statement.

Nyesom Wike went on to say that Atiku Abubakar’s statement has confirmed to him why those in Atiku’s camp does not want Iyorchia Ayu to resign. According to Nyesom Wike, Atiku’s statement is an indication that he does not want inclusivity and that is the same reason why he insisted that Ayu should remain the national chairman of PDP.

Nyesom Wike made this known on arrival at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State from a three days trip to Spain. Nyesom Wike went on to say that he does not believe that Atiku Abubakar could make such a statement at a time when PDP is trying to convince Nigerians to trust and vote for the party.

Remember that Atiku Abubakar was seen in a viral video where he was telling northerners to vote for him because of he is from the north. Atiku Abubakar was also seen telling northerners that they do not need to vote for an Igbo candidate or a Yoruba candidate. Atiku’s statement has received some backlash from some Nigerians who maintained that such statements does not have a place in Nigerian politics.
