Corruption allegations got worse under Buhari’s administration – Bwala

A former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Daniel Bwala, who was two days ago announced as a spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has descended on the government he had vehemently defended, alleging that there were more allegations of corrupt practices under the President Muhammadu Buhari led government, than all the others before it.

Bwala, who defected to the PDP just recently, made the allegations Friday an interview with a leading television station.

According to him the Buhari administration spent six years investigating various officials of the past PDP administration, accused of alleged $2 billion misappropriation, whereas under the APC administration, one needs to pick out only two government officials accused of misappropriating public fund of up to $2 billion, which is higher than all the PDP officials put together.

He stated that “the first term of President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC, Nigerians went on referendum on the PDP. They chose a different path and they gave APC the opportunity.

“In the first four years, one was to defend and canvass for the APC in the hope that APC would deliver on her promise. Yes, I did.

“When we got into the second term, if you have observed, the character of my defence was quite objective, because I felt that the second term should be a term when you should be able to show proof of the things you said you would do, because we have had enough of: ‘we inherited this, we inherited that, that PDP is this, PDP is that.’

“Eight years is enough time for any political party, in spite of what you inherited, what you were confronted with to bring out the full image of what you intended.

“Unfortunately, even though the first few years, in my view, APC did well in the area of anti -corruption and security. But now we have what we call the gift and the curse.

“Your strength now became your weakness, because when it comes to insecurity, I need not say anything for anyone to know that we are worse off now than we were in 2015.”
