The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has welcomed the decision of the United Kingdom (UK) to impose Visa ban as well as seizure of assets and property belonging to those involved in the undermining of Nigeria’s electoral process, particularly ahead of the Edo and Ondo governorship elections.

PDP commended the UK for her quick response alongside the United States in the global bid to stop the unbridled electoral fraud allegedly being perpetrated by leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their compromised Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security officials.

PDP, in a statement by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, said, “with the emerging global action, our party reiterates our call to other countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Dubai, France, Spain, Canada as well as African countries and the ECOWAS member states to impose similar sanctions on these unscrupulous elements and their family members.

“Our party, being the genuine Pan Nigeria political platform standing with the Nigerian people, urges the world community to profile the election riggers and their agents in INEC and security agencies and ban their family members from benefiting from services from other countries of the world.”

Meanwhile, the PDP has condemned the attack on its candidate, Eyitayo Jegede by hooded men in a convoy, in which its members were severely wounded and its campaign vehicles vandalized.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, the PDP campaign council for Ondo governorship election, said that All Progressives Congress (APC) is afraid of Jegede soaring popularity.

The Chairman, Publicity Sub-Committee of campaign council and spokesman of PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan said that APC is intimidated by Jegede’s soaring rating as well as the warm reception he has been receiving from leaders and groups across the state and had to attack him in Oba Akoko, where he was received by the highly revered Oloba of Oba, Oba Nathaniel Adegoroye.

“Our candidate has become the rallying point of the people in their quest to rescue their state.

“Our candidate, who is the people’s candidate, will remain undeterred in our focus to provide good governance for the people of Ondo state.

In any case, let it also be known that while our party and candidate will continue to canvass for peace, the PDP and the people of Ondo state will not fold our hands in the face of any such attack, but will not hesitate to use every means necessary and available in a democracy to confront and vanquish these enemies of the people.”
