Buhari’s ministers dare Electoral Act, as Malami joins Nwajiuba, declares for Kebbi guber race

Despite the widespread  call for all political appointees o obey the provisions of Section 84 (12) of the newly signed Electoral Act 2022, and resign their political appointments and face their election challenges if they wish to, President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointees Have remained adamant as they have separate commenced the election race even as they remain in office

Several States Commissioners and Governors appointed aides have resigned their [political positions to face their election, as directed by the Governors, who have cited the provisions of Section 84 (2) of the Electoral Act

By the provision of the Electoral Act, the ministers are expected to tesign 20 days to the primary election, which elapses on Saturday

While the Minister of State for Labour, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba had paid the N100m required for the All Progressives Congress Expression of Interesr and Nomination form to obtain the presidential primary form on Tuesday without resigning from his appointment, the minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Chika Malami, on Thursday declared his interest to contest the Kebbi governorship election, under the platform of the  ruling All progressives Congress (APC).

Malami, who broke the silence over his rumoured governorship ambition at the presidential hall in Birnin Kebbi, during APC’s stakeholders’ meeting solivcited for the support of the APC stakeholders in the state

“If you will support me and accept me I wish to say I am interested in becoming the next governor of Kebbi. If you permit me” his declaration had the blessings of the state executives of APC, ward Chairmen and local governments excos who gave Malami a resounding affirmative.

Earlier in his speech, the state APC Chairman Muhammad Abubakar Kana said that the meeting was called to thank the Stae Governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for his support to the party and assure him of their unalloyed support

“We want to thank you for being there for the party and all of us, we are ready to support any candidate of your choice”, he added.

Recall that Malami and others were given 72 hours by the order of their party to resign their appointments, but Malami and others still hold on as they declare for various elective offices in 2023.
