Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC and Director General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Osita Okechukwu has come in defence of his party’s humongous price of N100m for ir Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the presidential ticket

Okechukwu who reacted through a statement he released Thursday in Abuja, said the new price was in line with the party’s new position that the NWC should fund the 2023 elections

Appealing to those who were outraged over the 100 million presidential election and other nomination fees levied by the APC, the foundation member of the party explained that it was to maintain the axiom of Mr President not to fund the party with public funds and for candidates to mobilise funds as President Buhari did

Okechukwu, also emphasized that the APC has become a brand in Nigeria’s democracy, adding that the price has become justifiable, since any candidate that wins the APC ticket has almost 60 to 70 chances of victory in the 2023 elections

“The new price is in line with the maxim of our president that our great party should fund itself, and stop relying from Governors and other stakeholders, this we believe will make the party stand on its own and resist interference from outside. Those are the thinking of the party in the hike in price

“The new price also shows that the APC has become a brands in he nations democracy, there is no doubt that any aspirant that wins the APC ticket at any level stands the opportunity of winning the 2023 election with almost 60 to 70 chances. So the stake is hign and it has become the race for the big hearted,” Okechukwu argued

TCN Solicits Bauchi Support for New Alkaleri, Toro Substations

*** Takes Delivery of SPARE 330/132kV Equipment in Benin By Gloria Akudoro The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Bauchi Region, has appealed to the Bauchi State Government to expedite land allocation for two proposed transmission substations in Alkaleri and Toro Local Government Areas (LGAs). In statement signed by TCN Management, the projects are expected to expand transmission capacity and improve bulk power supply across the state. The Acting General Manager (Transmission), Bauchi Region, Engr. Muhammed Bello Ahmed, made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the State Ministry of Land and Survey on Monday, November 2, 2026, emphasising the need for timely land allocation to facilitate project implementation. He commended the state government for engaging host communities on the proposed projects and protecting critical transmission infrastructure through the enforcement of Right-of-Way (RoW) regulations, particularly the removal of illegal structures beneath high-voltage transmission lines. In his response, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Shuaibu Alhaji Mohammed, assured TCN of the state government’s support for the substation projects. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to facilitating the land allocation process and pledged to strengthen security around critical transmission facilities. In related development, TCN, Benin Sub-Region, took delivery of a truckload of spare equipment and maintenance materials from the TCN Project Monitoring Unit (PMU), Abuja on Monday, November 2, 2026. The delivery comprises 330kV and 132kV tripping coils, rapid pressure relays, current transformer (CT) ratio clamps, gantry structures and porcelain insulators. The items have been offloaded and secured in the sub-region’s store, ready for deployment as required. TCN revealed that the delivery will strengthen the sub-region’s capacity to carry out routine and emergency maintenance promptly, thereby reducing downtime and invstiably improving the reliability of the transmission network and supporting a more efficient delivery of bulk power to load centers of distribution companies serviced by the region.
