Immediate past First Lady of Anambra State, Mrs Ebele Obiano was in the news on Thursday night after she was arrested by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

It was gathered that she was first invited by the officials of the agency before she was brought into custody.

The details of her arrest were not very clear as at Thursday night.

It was, however, gathered that she was being quizzed by operatives of the agency as at press time.

Her arrest comes exactly four weeks after she was slapped by Bianca Ojukwu during the handover ceremony to Prof Charles Soludo on March 17, 2022.

That same night her husband was apprehended at the departure longue of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport while preparing to depart for the United States at the end of his stewardship as governor of Anambra State.

Beside the news that Ebele Obiano was arrested by the EFCC, it was equally gathered that the political differences between the Rivers and Edo State governors reared again on Thursday after Governor Nyesom Wike shunned Governor Godwin Obaseki during his to Edo State.

Wike was in Edo State to canvass for votes in pursuit of his 2023 presidential aspiration on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Wike who was received by the national vice-chairman, South-South, Chief Dan Orbih met with party delegates at the Benin residence of Chief Tony Anenih after he visited with the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II.

Speaking at the palace, Wike said: “I was here one and a half years ago as the DG (Director General) of the campaign for the re-election of Governor Obaseki but I am here today not on behalf of anybody but of myself and my team to seek your prayers.
