Trade Union Congress (TUC) has asked Presidemt Muhammadu Buhari to resign from his office.
The National President of the Congress, Comrade Quadri Olaleye, made the demand on Ogaminana, Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, during the burial of its Secretary General, Comrade Musa Lawal Ozigi, who was murdered in cold blood during the attack by terrorists on the Abuja-Kaduna train.
Accoreing to the TUC, if the president as Commander-in-Chief cannot deliver on his primary responsibility, which is to protect the citizens from bandits and other criminals, then he should resign.
They insisted that President Buhari is failing in the primary job of his office, stressing that there is no reason life is becoming so unsafe in the country.
Comrade Olaleye insisted that the primary responsibility of government as enshrined in the constitution is the protection of the lives and property of citizens which Buhari has been failing to do as indicated by the incessant killings across the country.
The TUC national president advised that if Buhari can no longer provide adequate security for the citizens of the country, he should throw in the towel.
The TUC boss lamented that bandits have taken over towns and cities, including roads and forests in the nation, adding that nobody is safe anywhere in the country.
“Children can no longer go to school; you cannot travel again and we cannot close our two eyes when sleeping.
“If the president cannot provide security for the citizens of this country, then he should resign,” he said.
He noted that had the government listened to the outcry of the people about the worsening security situation in the country, we would not have reached the level of insecurity pervading the country.
He lamented that the attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train led to the death of the General Secretary of TUC and its Kwara State Chapter Chairman, Comrade Akin Akinsola.
